Discipleship is a commitment to follow another, adopting the teachings, behaviors, and attitudes in such a way that you become like the one that you are following. For a Christ-follower, discipleship means that we have committed to following Jesus, as Lord, and are becoming like Him.
For this to happen, we need to be transformed. Transformation happens at the intersection of Spirit, Word, relationships, and personal effort. But you have been called to not only be transformed, but to be part of the transformation of others. You have been called to be a disciple-maker:
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18 – 20
