What We Believe

What shapes everything we do.

These are the core convictions we hold — the truths about God, Jesus, the Bible, and the Church that ground every value below and shape everything we do as a church family.

God

Genesis 1:1, 26-27 · Psalm 90:2 · Matthew 28:19 · 1 Peter 1:2 · 2 Corinthians 13:14

God is both the Creator and the sustainer of all things. He is transcendent (beyond human understanding), infinite in His being and qualities (love, justice, righteousness), eternal, and unchanging. God is both self-existent and self-revealing in three persons — Father, Son, and Spirit — who each have a distinct function.

Jesus Christ

Matthew 1:22-23 · John 1:1-5 · Hebrews 4:14-15 · 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 · Acts 1:9-11

Jesus Christ is the Son of God — both fully divine and fully human. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life, offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross, rose from the grave on the third day, and ascended to His Father to be crowned King of all things. As Lord and Savior, He will return to this earth in God’s perfect timing.

The Holy Spirit

2 Corinthians 3:17 · John 16:7-13 · Galatians 5:16-25 · 1 Corinthians 12:1-13 · Romans 8:1-17

The Spirit works to convict people of their separation from God and their need for Jesus Christ. He continues this work by living in every baptized Christ-follower, providing them with power for living, transformation in character, and guidance in doing what is right. The Spirit acts as our primary connection to God, and we seek to keep in step with Him daily.

The Bible

2 Timothy 3:16 · 2 Peter 1:20-21 · 2 Timothy 1:13 · Psalm 12:6, 119:105, 160 · Proverbs 30:5

The Bible is God’s inspired and infallible Word, given without error. Its 66 books were written by human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It acts as the sole written authority for all believers and is therefore useful for teaching, correcting, and training in the way of Jesus, providing the wisdom needed for holy living (2 Pet. 1:3).

Human Beings

Genesis 1:27 · Psalm 82:6 · Isaiah 53:6a · Romans 3:23 · Isaiah 59:1-2

Human beings are made in the spiritual image of God and are meant to act as the caretakers and rulers of His good creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are flawed by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.” This attitude creates brokenness in our relationship with God, ourselves, and one another.

Salvation

Romans 6:23 · Ephesians 2:8-9 · Titus 3:5 · Romans 5:1

Salvation is God’s work of restoring our relationship to Him through the work of Jesus on the cross. This salvation is a matter of God’s grace. As a result, we can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. It is only because of grace, and through faith in Jesus Christ, that we can have assurance of this salvation.

Our Response — Faith

Acts 2:38 · Romans 10:9-10 · Hebrews 11:6

Faith is belief and obedience working in tandem. It is made real when we turn away from our self-ruled life and surrender to Jesus — believing with our heart, confessing with our mouth, repenting with our actions, and being baptized in His name.

The Church

Matthew 16:13-18 · Acts 2:14-27

The Church is the body of Jesus on earth, made up of Christ-followers who are filled with His Spirit and living out His purpose. The Church is a taste of the victorious Kingdom of God, which will someday come to fruition in the return of Jesus Christ to this earth. The Church is experienced through local communities of Christ-followers that regularly meet together.

Church Leadership

Acts 20:28 · 1 Timothy 3:1-7 · 1 Peter 5:1-4

Jesus is the head of the Church. He has tasked each church community to appoint Elders to exercise spiritual authority within that community. Those Elders then delegate authority to servant-leaders who will lead the charge in growing various ministries and completing the tasks set before them.

The Return of Jesus and Eternity

John 5:28-29 · Daniel 12:2 · 2 Corinthians 4:14

Jesus Christ will return to this earth as King of all things. At that time, He will pronounce the fate of each individual, both living and dead: either eternal life in the New Heavens and New Earth, or eternal separation from God in Hell.

Biblical Truth

Making God’s Word Our Guide

The Bible is the inspired Word of God (2 Tim. 3:16–17). At a personal level, the core value of Biblical Truth means all our thoughts and actions are filtered through the God-given lens of Scripture.

As a Kingdom community, it means every teaching and every ministry corresponds with the principles laid out in the Bible.

Inspired Worship

Putting God First

When asked what the greatest law was, Jesus answered: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind” (Luke 10:27). Recognizing God’s position in our life and giving Him the honor He’s due is at the heart of worship.

As a Kingdom community, Inspired Worship means that God, His Son, and His Spirit are at the center of everything we do.

Selfless Service

Sacrificing Like Jesus

Jesus exemplified humility and put our ultimate need — a right relationship with God — ahead of His own life (Phil. 2:3–11). As we follow Him, we’re called to live a life that puts others ahead of our own wants and desires.

As a Kingdom community, this means recognizing the needs around us and finding ways to meet them through Christ.

Real Relationships

Loving Others Like Jesus

According to Jesus, next to loving God, loving others is the essential ingredient to living out God’s plan (Mark 12:31). As a Kingdom community, that means our relationships are authentic, transparent, and life-changing.

We’re designed to build one another up (1 Thes. 5:11) as we move toward eternity together.

Spirit-led Living

Walking with the Spirit

Underneath all of these values is the belief that we are a people led by the Holy Spirit. At CCW we believe the only way to live the Christian life is by God’s power within us.

To live this way, we practice a daily dependence on God’s Spirit — for God-sized growth, God-shaped transformation, and God-led guidance.
